The Big Bang
One of the biggest problems with science is that scientists tend to make these big bold assumptions and then get dogmatic about it. We seem to need to find the "best theory" that fits the evidence rather than be content with saying "we don't know". And once a theory "gains favor" by the establishment, it is almost impossible to knock it down. When it comes to the Big Bang, there we make enormous assumptions. We've developed all this math and physics and assume that the laws that fit so well on this planet are also true for objects so far away. It has gotten to the point that scientists feel free to make mathematical calculations as to what things were like during the first moments of creation. And they have the gall to actually believe that their calculations actually approximate reality! That's why I prefer engineers to theoreticians. When an engineer builds something, either it works or it doesn't. A physicist doesn't actually have to be correct. Who can prove the past? One of the biggest assumptions made by the Big Bangers is that we can measure the accurate distances of celestial objects by virtue of their "redshift". Read up about Halton Arp if you have an open mind. And The Big Bang Never Happened by Eric Lerner is a great read too. Posted by Heretic at September 27, 2002 08:38 AM | TrackBack

I've read Arp's "Seeing Red" and found it to be fascinating. He has legit credentials and can't be dismissed as an ordinary wacko. I also have Lerner's book but haven't read it yet. I'll be eagerly watching this thread to see what sort of interesting posts appear.

Another suggested "heretic" to check out is Carver Mead. Search for his name and for Foveon, his digital photography breakthrough technology.

the big bang is not your enemy, Christian.

believe me, if secular science had a way to eliminate the need for a definite beginning to all that is, they surely would. for a beginning begs a Cause, you see, and if we don't have one then there isn't much room left for God.

i'm a Christian and a physics major myself, about a semester away from my degree. there is a lot of pridefulness in physics, scientists whose claims are motivated more by their ego or defiance towards God rather than reason. i wonder if you've ever studied physics (or any science, for that matter) however. do you know whereof you speak?

SPACE, MATTER AND TIME

Abstract Scientific understanding of time, of cosmic space and its interaction with matter is limited with their mathematical description.
Keywords: space, matter, time, mathematical infinity, singularities, gravitational ether, Einstein

Introduction Regarding theory of numbers natural and real numbers are both infinite and at the same time real numbers are more than natural one. Real numbers are composed of algebraic and transcendental one, with natural numbers we can numerate only algebraic one. Logicians confirm that there is no contradiction if we say that infinity of natural numbers is smaller of real one and also if we say that they are equal (1).
By numerating each mille of a strait line with natural numbers we will get infinite distance and by numbering a parallel line with real numbers we will also get infinite distance. If we say that infinite distance made out of natural numbers is shorter as one made out of real one there is no contradiction, if we say that they are equal there is also no contradiction. So infinite distance does not mean a real existing and measurable one; infinite distance + 100 miles = infinite distance. That's why applying of infinite distance in cosmology creates difficulties. In the universe we can observe and measure only finite distances between objects. When we imagine that universal space might be infinite as Euclid space we do not know exactly what does it mean.
With applying of Riemann’s geometry in cosmology the image of infinite three-dimensional cosmic space changed in the image of finite spherical four-dimensional one. The finite round space one can imagine only in the infinite Euclid space. By choosing spherical finite geometry as model for cosmic space the question arises: what is beyond the borders of the universe, must be some bigger space that finite universe is lying into ?! Our imagine of the universal space depends on which geometry we use to describe it, however its real nature remains unknown.
Mathematical infinity is applied also in calculations about pressure, temperature and density in singularity of big bang and black holes, where all of them have infinite values. Infinite temperature plus 1000 degrees is still an infinite temperature, so terms infinite temperature, pressure and density do not means temperature, pressure and density in the common sense.
However the question arises: from where matter appears in the inflation phase of big bang and where it disappears the centre of black holes.
According Stephen Hawking in inflation phase energy of the matter that is positive and the gravitational one that is negative are multiplying. Its sum remains always zero: E matter (Em) + E gravitational (Eg) = 0. In the similar way as (-1) + (1) = 0, (-2) + (2) = 0, (-3) + (3) = 0 (2).

Discussion Describing energy of the matter as positive, energy of gravitation as negative and explaining inflation phase with the equations above does not answer the question of appearance of matter. Equations that function in mathematics does not necessary function in physics. Mathematics only describes reality and can not explain it. Einstein says: "As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality" (3).
Einstein's idea was that cosmic space can not be imagined without the existence of gravitational ether: "Recapitulating, we may say that according to the general theory of relativity space is endowed with physical qualities; in this sense, therefore, there exists an ether. According to the general theory of relativity space without ether is unthinkable; for in such space there not only would be no propagation of light, but also no possibility of existence for standards of space and time (measuring-rods and clocks), nor therefore any space-time intervals in the physical sense. But this ether may not be thought of as endowed with the quality characteristic of ponderable media, as consisting of parts which may be tracked through time. The idea of motion may not be applied to it "(4).
Interaction between matter and gravitational ether can be described with the roundness of Riemann four-dimensional geometry; the bigger the star is, more round is the space around it, and higher is the density of gravitational ether. In the centre of the black hole the density of the gravitational ether is infinite. All atomic and subatomic particles disintegrate, only gravitational force persists. The structured energy of the matter disintegrates into unstructured gravitational energy.
According to the first law of thermodynamic energy can not be created and not destroyed, only it can change its forms. Respecting this law one can predict that amount of the energy in the universe is always constant; this means that the sum of energy of matter and gravitational energy is also constant: E matter (Em) + E gravitational (Eg) = E constant (Ek). When for description of the universal space is used Euclidian geometry the Ek is infinite, when is used Riemann geometry the Ek is finite.
In the first moment after the big bang Em = 0, Eg = Ek. In the subsequent moments of the inflation phase Eg is structured into Em, and the transformation is over when Eg and Em are balanced: Eg = Em (Eg = Ek/2, Em = Ek/2). With the formation of black holes, the transformation of Em into Eg starts, Em is falling towards zero (Em --> 0), Eg is rising towards Ek (Eg --> Ek). The density of gravitational ether is increasing with disintegration of matter into it. This process increases the gravitational forces between galaxy, the speed of expanding universe is getting slower. At the certain point the expanding stops and universe start to collapse in enormous black hole that explode into new big bang where gravitational ether structures in subatomic particles.
Energy of the matter and gravitational one are in a permanent dynamic equilibrium. Big bangs are cyclic, universe is a self-renovated system with a constant entropy. Increasing of the entropy after big bang is only momentary, universe never lose his potential of energy.
According to Einstein gravitational ether can not be described with terms as "time" and "movement". In scientific experiments one can observe only the physical change in cosmic space. The speed of change in a given volume of space depends on density of gravitational ether. The higher is density, the lower is speed of change. Time exists only as stream of this change. The idea of four-dimensional space-time develops in the idea of four-dimensional space in which change runs (5).
With elementary perception one can observe only a constant stream of irreversible change. Change A transforms in B, B in C and so on. When B exists, A does not exist any more, when C exists, B does not exists any more. Mind experiences irreversible stream of change as linear one.
Immanuel Kant was right in saying that time exists only as a structure of the mind: space and time are not realities existing in themselves. In a word, they are subjective forms (6).
Linear time and three-dimensional space exist only as structures of the rational scientific mind. Through these mental structures science can elaborate an event. From the universal point of view makes no sense that morning is before the evening, that father was born before the son. In the universe time does not exists. Universe is a timeless phenomena, has no beginning and no end, it simply exists, is eternity itself.
Experiment with Earthworms shows that the weight of a living worm is bigger than the weight of the same dead one (7,8). Gravitational ether is more dense around living organisms than around same dead ones. It seems that functioning of living organism is related with density of gravitational ether.

Conclusions Universe is a timeless phenomena composed out of one energy. When this energy is structured appears as matter, when is unstructured appears as gravitational ether that builds up the cosmic space. The physical circumstances of transformation "gravitational ether --> matter" and back are infinite. This presents one of the matters that create difficulties in unification of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics.
